Why can't I use my usb memory stick at the same time as my usb external hard drive? - how do you connect a external hard drive to a hard drive f
I have attached a Dell Inspiron 9400 with a Seagate external USB hard drive. If I use a USB memory stick light comes on trying, but the PC can not read. At first I thought it was a conflict with the drive letter, so I assigned the external drive to G: so that you have a USB flash drive F: to use (for the previous drive letter to the external drive) is displayed each time. This does not solve the problem. The only way I can use is the storage medium, whether I prefer the external hard drive and vice versa.
Any help would be very grateful.

I would say that the laptop does not have enough energy to run concurrently with two devices available can provide. The test would be to connect a powered hub to the laptop and then see whether the two work simultaneously with the powered hub.
What kind of external drive, is not it? Do your own food? If not, this is certainly the reason.
You can to treat the opposite slots or connection in a different order. Some devices have more than one power profile, and the laptop can select a path with high performance for the first device and then not have enough energy into the second left. Making a connection to the other level, you can use the profile of reduced energy consumption in the facility, which has a lower energy consumption profile.
Edit: For more information, I must admit I'm baffled. I can not imagine that for some reason does not work. You try the two in May to a Power Hub USB 2 in touch if you have one, but I have all the concrete proposals. Sorry. They (the USB drivers can update?)
